So "Body Bag" began on my iPod, but it turned out NOT to be "Body Bag" but Suzi Quatro's "Too Big".

The drum intro was EXACTLY the same for about 7 out of the 8 beats on the first two bars.

How else has this happened to you?

Sometimes, I think it's body bag starting, but it's actually T-Shirt by SBG.

iPods, eh! The cover art that downloaded for my copy of My Game is actually an album called In Game by a band called the Humble Brothers. Bloody Imposters.

Not that I ever get them confused, but I've always thought "Spoonman" by Soundgarden sounded a lot like "Rags & Bones" by...uh, you know...

Does "Brad"/"Dad" count? :D

The bass line from "Rags & Bones" appears to be inspired by a rather old blues song, I have that song somewhere hidden in my music collection. I'll try to dig it up.

SBG T-Shirt

But I think it's kinda intentional

I'm sure a certain *someone* may correct me on this if Tom lied, but apparently there was meant to be a different intro to T-Shirt, but a certain bassist couldn't quite figure it out or didn't like it, so he just threw in the intro to Body Bag.

In 2007, Rob learned of this treachery and upon hearing that song, said, "oh, those guys!"

For some reason whenever I hear YYZ by Rush I think of Nomeansno.
Well at least the one or two times a decade that I hear it.

yeah the opening bass on yyz sounds very nomeansno
the bass line/bass sound from lovercall by danko jones is almost lifted directly from a NMN song

That's about as much Rush as anyone should have to hear...maybe that's even too much.

I´m back, here´s a song with the Rags & Bones bassline in it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXoaupox2IA

It is not the "rather old" blues song I mentioned.

Also the meters use the same pattern in "People say", different rhythm though, skip to the lick around 2:57

The main guitar/bass riff in "What Slayde Says" (to my ears) was recycled by The Tragically Hip on something from one of their early albums. I just can't think of what song, haven't listened to them in years, other than the occasional song on Toronto radio. Their early ones were good basic rock n roll albums - Up To Here through Day For Night. At the start of the '00s, they fastly turned into crappy stadium-rock for the frat crowd.
