mp3’s a very sweet of y’all…but flac is just as easy and it’s lossless…

Not a lot of people asking for it, and most sources don’t offer anything but mp3. Ripping an 80’s tape to flac is probably a bit overkill on the sound quality aspirations. You could just as well convert it to flac yourself, quality won’t get better for some of the old show. Not without the master bootleg recording anyways.

nothing against FLAC, but to ease of use of mp3 is unsurpassed, imho.
